The Contribution the MPEI’s Mathematical Modeling Department Makes in the Academic Competition Movement in Russia

Abstract

The article describes a specific area of activities the Mathematical Modeling Department of the Moscow Engineering Institute National Research University conducts with the students, including prospective ones, on involving them in academic competitions. Much attention is paid to the work conducted with school pupils in holding the academic competition called “Power Engineering Aspiration” both in mathematics and other disciplines (physics and informatics). These competitions receive every year high assessments of the experts from the Russian Council of Academic Competitions among school pupils and have been included by the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science in the List of Academic Competitions among school pupils the participation in which gives advantages in matriculating to higher schools.
